Homemade Oreo Cookies

My boyfriend's Mom made these cookies one day and Shmike and I practically ate all of them. They were so good that I had to get the recipe and make them myself. Now I make them all the time because not only are they so cute looking but they are sooo yummy! Shmike likes them best with milk. Here is the recipe!

1 package Devils Food Cake Mix
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs

Mix the above together. Roll into dime-sized balls and place on a cookie sheet. I can usually fit 48 on one cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 4-5 minutes! Do not overbake! They should be chewy not crunchy. Cool and place on a rack.

Frosting:

8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 stick of butter
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar

Mix all the ingredients together, frost the backs of the cookies and place together to make little sandwiches.

I usually put the frosting into a plastic baggie and cut the tip of a corner off and pipe the frosting onto one side of one cookie before I put the other cookie on top.

Enjoy!!!

I make these cookies all the time too! I love them and so does Rob. Except sometimes I get lazy and just buy cream cheese frosting already made. I like it better sometimes, and it's easy. Your blog is so cute rach!

Those cookies are too tiny and trouble for me. You think "oh they are small so I'll just have a few" "oh, just a few more, I mean they are so small, it won't matter" And then bamm, I will have eaten the whole plate. TOO good. Great pics too Rach!
