Gramps

(I never blog twice in one day so be sure to read the blog below this one.)

Yesterday was my Grandpa Holt's 78th birthday! Grandma made an amazing dinner for all of us up at her house in SLC. As I was driving up to their house I was so excited to see everyone. I had not seen my extended family for a while and was excited to catch up.

Their were three tables of people. The adults, the unmarried cousins (Me, Maclaine, Dev, Ruby, and Price), and then the little cousins. Us unmarried cousins had some great conversations while eating. Love lives, school, missions, Step Up 2, and old memories at Grandmas house. Then after we finished eating we joined the adults in the other room for yogurt cake and a 30 minute discussion of how much we love The Office.

We sang Happy Birthday to Grandpa and ate his favorite yogurt birthday cake. So yummy!! I love my Grandpa. I have so many memories with him. But my favorite memories are the ones that I shared with him and my dad on his fishing boat. A few times every summer my dad and I would fly out to Utah to go fishing with Gramps. We would wake up really early and get the boat hooked up to the car. Then we would drive to McDonalds for breakfast. I would always complain that I liked Jack-in-the-box better because I liked their french toast sticks. Then we would drive to Strawberry Lake and fish all day long. I would sit in the front of the boat and loved going fast. I remember Grandpa teaching me how to properly cast a line out into the lake. When we caught all the fish we would put them into a compartment in the front of the boat with water in it. As we drove the boat back to shore I would always make sure the fish would not jump out. That was my job. And I did it well.
Then my least favorite job was cleaning the fish once we got home. I would just hold the hose for my Dad because I hated getting fish guts all over my hands. Then we would have a big rainbow trout dinner with the whole family. Thanks Grandpa for everything you do. I love you so much.
