Roberto and Dusty

Meet Dusty:

Senior year of high school, 4th period, was my yearbook class. It was my favorite class. Basically all we did everyday was just goof off. I mean that's what high school is for right? There was a group of us who would just sit in our teachers office on her couch and talk the whole period.

One day we found this little stuffed animal on her bookshelf. She told us it was a gift from one of her students a couple years back. For the whole class period we were trying to figure out what kind of an animal it was. A dog? A hampster? A seal pup? Who knows. Being the animal lover I am, I grew a liking to this stuffed animal and would carry it around during class. I thought it was so cute and little. My guy friend Rob grew a liking to it as well and one day we decided to name it Dusty. We took funny pictures of him doing different activities.

Here he is listening to his ipod and eating raisins:

Here he is knitting a hat:

Gangster Dusty:

Here are Rob and Dusty together:

At my 18th Great Gatsby birthday party, Rob brought Dusty with a bow tie.

After we graduated, Rob and I decided that Dusty would be our way of staying in contact during college. We would send him back and forth to each other with letters and our favorite candy. Junior Mints for me, and Everlasting Gobstoppers for him. It was fun getting Dusty every month and hearing from Rob. So for almost two years now we have been sending Dusty back and forth.

Yesterday I was cleaning my room and I heard the front door open. I went into our family room to see who it was and Dusty was sitting on the ground. I was so confused. I had sent Dusty to Rob just last month. All of the sudden Roberto comes out from behind the couch!! It was so great! I screamed and ran over to him to give him a huge hug! What a great surprise! He drove up with a friend and decided to deliver Dusty personally. It was great to see an old friend. We had a lot of fun together walking around Provo in the warm weather and laughing just like old times.

Roberto has always been one of my best friends and it was really great to see him. So that is the story of how Dusty came to be. Seal pup or baby dinosaur? You decide.

I love the photos. I like Gangsta D best.

P.S. Does your Teacher know you have that little scruffer and he's not on the bookshelf anymore?

Hilarious! Rob and I did a similar thing with a tiny toy car... we took pictures of it all over Europe. I don't know why it is so funny to give life to inanimate objects, but it is.
