Hi, Rachel here! Reporting from New York, NY. Well it is my fourth day in New York City and I am already loving it! If you don't know, I am here living with my wonderful older sister Laurel and her cute little family. I am here until August 3rd baby sitting for her and for some of her friends! I already know that I am going to want to stay here for a lot longer than a month.
I had an adventure my first day in the city that I will tell you about. My friend Katie Blair and her family were staying in NYC for a few days so I decided to meet them for lunch at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill. Laurel explained to me that I should take the 4/5 subway "uptown" to 14th street and get off there. So I walked to the subway stop by her apartment and got a ticket and walked to the platform. After waiting there for 15 minutes, I started to get worried because I kept seeing only A and C trains pass me. I decided to ask someone where to pick up the 4/5 train and they pointed me up some stairs and round a few corners. So I was in the complete wrong place. Then finally I got on the 4/5 train and saw that I had about 5 stops before I had to get off. I took out my book and started to read. But instead of hearing the stops that I would pass I heard other names of stops that went the other way. I realized I was going "downtown" instead of "uptown". I freaked and got off at the next stop. As the only little white girl in the whole Brooklyn subway station I was a little afraid of how I was going to get back uptown. Luckily everyone that I asked for help was really nice. I quickly got to the other side of the platform and got on the 4/5 going "uptown". At this point I was already 45 minutes late meeting Katie and her family. I felt horrible but I couldn't call because there is no reception down in the subway. I made it to 14th street and was able to find the restaurant and have lunch. The food was amazing! And Bobby Flay himself was the chef for the day! Unforchunetly he never came out. Katie and I were very close to sneaking into the kitchen to catch a glimpse of one of my favorite Food Network stars!

Yesterday was such a fun 4th of July! We went to Wagner Park with all of Laurel's friends from her ward and had a picnic. The fireworks were over in Jersey but we could see them from across the water! It was a little overcast but it was a perfect temperature. It didn't rain the whole time until right before the fireworks started. We sat there under umbrellas and had such a great time! One of my favorite 4th of July's!

Laurel spotted Dax Shepard walking in front of us so I followed him to get a picture. Right when I was about to take it he started making out with his girlfriend so I turned around and waited for them to finish. I snapped a picture of them walking away. Dax is the main guy in the show Punked!
Let me just say that I have the most darling niece and nephew in the world! I have so much fun with them. Ashton has the cutest smile and his "happy screams" are hilarious. Avery watches High School Musical everyday and I LOVE it. We are totally related. I am going to buy her HSM 2 for her birthday!
I am getting really good at walking around the city only after a few days! My map is my best friend and I even walked to the grocery store by myself at night time to get ice cream for Laurel and myself!
I love this city! Wish me luck at the singles ward tomorrow! :/
