My whole life I have been a picky eater. My earliest memory of being a picky eater was when I lived in Connecticut. My mom and I would go to Taco Bell after Kindergarden and I would order a taco with just cheese. The employees would call it a flat taco. It was downhill from there. I grew up never trying anything. I just told myself that I wouldn't like it so I never had any urge to try new foods.
Some of my picky habits included:
-hamburgers. plain. nothing on them. just the meat and the bun.
-turkey sandwiches. just turkey and bread.
-PB and J's. hold the PB. just jam.
-pasta with only red sauce.
-no veggies. just carrots.
-no seafood.
-no sauces on anything.
-hate mashed potatoes. they make my gag.
This list could go on for a while but those are just a few. Now before you think I'm crazy, a lot of those habits have changed! Actually, almost all have changed except for the mashed potatoes. I like baked potatoes but I can't do mashed.
Now you might be thinking that these picky eating habits have changed because I have gotten older and matured. This might be half of the reason. The other half goes all to being under pressure. In my two years of college I have been on many dates. All of these include awkward first dates and trying to impress them right? Now usually I don't drop the "P" word (picky) about myself until at least the 3rd date. So the first few dates are pretty scary if I really like them and want to make a good first impression. So I cave. I end up going to restaurants and eating foods that are waaaay out of my taste buds experience. On the upside, most of these experiences have led me to loving so many new foods!
Here are some of the things I have tried on dates and now love.
-strawberry spinach salad with poppy seed dressing.
-baked potatoes.
-chicken salad sandwiches.
-cucumbers.
-asparagus.
-Oh's cereal.
-sushi...I dont love it. But at least I tried it.
-pesto pasta.
-pot stickers.
-chicken and bean quesadillas.
-banana cream pie.
-dr. pepper.
-onion rings.
So here's to boys, dates, and awkward college times. Thanks for expanding my food palate. Couldn't have done it without you.

haha. i can totally understand you on this one. I am sickly picky and don't eat anything that will be somewhat mushy when i eat it. To sick and gross in my mouth. haha. I can relate. But it's nice to try new things. so kudos to you.
And i'm so sad that things didn't work out at the G.Store. I so badly wanted to work with you. :) maybe next year.
love ya girly,
nikki
haha, i totally remember going to Domenico's with you spending $8 on a sandwich with just turkey. i love you!
I have to agree with you. This could be a chapter straight of the story of Bryan and Dawn! However, I must say that your first list is a little insane. No mashed potatoes? No Peanut Butter?!?!
YOU TRIED SUSHI??? Alright, that's it. We're eating at Kane for Christmas.
wow Raich, i had no idea. we can totally strengthen our friendship without actually having to engage in dialogue. You just write about yourself and i read it. I am learning so much about you when i have insomnia. Sheesh...
So funny, Rach! Tim still makes fun of me because I was a vegetarian until I met his parents for the first time and his mom had made beef stew. I didn't want to push my bowl aside and say, "oh, sorry, but I'm a vegetarian. Can you make me something else?" So I ate meat for the first time in like 3 years! All for a boy!
