Pssst. Did you hear? Todd and I are engaged! Yes, it is official. I cannot tell you how happy I am. Engaged Rachel cannot stop smiling. I will get down to it and tell you the juicy deets of how it all happened.
The Story.
(sorry in advance for the mushy gushy love stuff)
Todd and I had picked out a ring at the beginning of last weekend. It was perfect. I loved it. He loved it. Our understanding was that he wouldn't be able to get it for a couple weeks because of resizing and money and all those boring but important details. I pushed it out of my brain so that I wouldn't get too excited too soon. We went to my parents house for the weekend. On Saturday he asked my dad for permission to marry me while they were working on cars in the garage (so manly). Little did I know, he also bought the ring on Saturday over the phone and was told it would be ready by Monday. I had no idea this was going on. Sneaky Todd...
Last night Todd came over to my apartment and we made sandwiches for dinner and watched an episode of Arrested Development (super romantic, I know). We were going over to Bree and Cory's house to play games and hang out but they were in SLC and it would be a while until they got home. I told Todd that we should get out and go to Barnes and Noble or something. He suggested we go on a drive up the canyon and then I said we should go to Sundance to get a cookie from the deli (where I used to work). He thought this was a great idea and I noticed he was randomly super excited about it on our way up. But I just thought it was cute.
We walked around the inside of Sundance in the general store and the deli and looked at the pictures of Sundance celebs on the walls (the one of Denzel is my favorite). Then he told me to show him where the Rehearsal Hall was outside. It was freezing so I was a little hesitant to go exploring in the snow. But he gave me his coat and we walked to the porch of the Rehearsal Hall overlooking the little pond. It was so beautiful. There was snow everywhere, we were alone, and there were little white lights outlining the porch we were on. We were standing there hugging and he looked at me and told me how much he loved me. In my brain I thought this would have been the perfect setting for a proposal but I already knew he wouldn't have the ring for a couple more weeks. Then all of the sudden, he pulled out the ring box from his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him (he may or may not have had tears in his eyes). I was crying and giggling all at the same time. I will always remember how happy I was at that moment. I said "yes yes yes yes yes!" and hugged and kissed him. Then we were both giggling and hugging. I think I might have jumped up and down once or twice? I was really happy. It was the perfect engagement for me.
Todd sent out a huge mass text when we got into the car. "I'm engaged" is what it said. If I sent out a mass text like that to my girlfriends and family they would have killed me. I guess thats the difference between guys and girls.
Everyone is so excited for us. We are so excited for us. I can't stop looking at my ring. I can't stop thinking about how much I love Todd. He is going to be such a wonderful husband. He is perfect for me. I want our life to start right away! Our wedding is still a few months away. Five and a half to be exact. August 13th. It's gonna be the best party I will have ever planned. I have only been thinking about my wedding for the past...22 years.
