Ever since my Mom bought me my first "Easy-Bake Oven", I have loved to cook. Even before that I was always making witches brew (a big bowl of every food combined that looks like mush). I have always loved to just find a recipe and make it. Sometimes I cook great things and sometimes I mess up and it turns out bad, but through it all I have a great time learning. For a while I wanted to go to the CIA : Culinary Institute of America. I wanted to become a pastry chef and make big cakes and beautiful desserts for fancy restaurants. Then I realized that the Chef world is very stressful and cooking should just be something that I am really good at on the side.
My last year of High School was a pretty tough year. A lot of things happened and I was just stressed a lot. After a bad day at school or where ever I would find myself cooking. I would just get out my recipes and start baking. It didn't matter what it was. The fact that I could forget all my problems and get "lost" in my cooking was all that mattered. I felt so much better when the cupcakes came out of the oven or my pasta was being drained in a colander. Maybe it had something to do with the aromatherapy but I loved the way cooking made me feel.
For my English class last semester I wrote my whole thesis paper on this subject. My teacher loved it and totally agreed with me. (I got an A!) I am proof that a good way to escape from the world or from your problems for a while is cooking. It does not matter if it is a cake mix or a gourmet recipe by Barefoot Contessa, just COOK!

That's so cute that you love cooking that much and that you wrote a paper on it! What a good idea! I wish I loved cooking that much! Maybe you need to give me some good recipes! I might be coming to your sister's little "Sprinkle", so maybe I will see you there! Fun!
Hi Rachel -
I always thought it was sweet to see you helping your Mom with Thanksgiving dinners. I hope my kids with be willing to spend time with me in the kitchen sometimes.
You're great and I love reading your blog and hearing about your fun life in Provo!!
