This is Ginny. She is from Seoul, Korea and is studying English at the International school at UVU. I am her English conversation partner. Once or twice a week I meet her at school and we talk together in English for an hour. She is the sweetest, funniest, smartest, most stylish Korean girl I know. I have loved getting to know her this semester. I meet her up on the International floor where most of the International students are. I have met so many people from different countries because of her! It is my favorite part of the week to just hang out with her and her friends from different places of the world. Her boyfriend Dalki is from Korea too and he took this picture of us.
I love hearing about their culture and what they love about their country. During the Olympics we talked about how much Korea hates Apolo Ohno because of what he did to one of the Korean speed skaters during a race. Ginny got up and demonstrated how Apolo pushed the Korean skater or something. It was so funny seeing how upset she was over it. Ginny loves to demonstrate things by acting it out. Sometimes she can't say what she means in English so she tries to act it out for me to understand better. She is improving so much and is such a fast learner!
I am so glad I joined the ESL club and that I get to be Ginny's friend. I am always in the best mood after meeting with her each week. It is so fun and interesting to sit there and socialize with people that come from such different backgrounds, yet we have so many things to talk about. I love it.
