I make homemade Oreos once a week. Okay, maybe not that much, but I do make them a lot. They are just too good. For Halloween I dyed the frosting orange and made them to be monster cookies. In honor of Valentine's day, I used a box of Red Velvet cake mix instead of Devil's Food. I was nervous that they wouldn't taste as good...I was wrong. They are divine. Now the problem is, I can't decide which flavor I like better!
I thought I would post the recipe again for any of you that want to make them! I made them for my friend, Kristy's birthday yesterday. She takes great pictures of food so I stole this from her.
{Homemade Red Velvet Oreos}
1 box of Red Velvet cake mix
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tub of cream cheese frosting
-Preheat oven to 350.
-Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
-Roll into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet (I can usually fit about 24 at a time).
-Cook for 8 minutes.
-Spoon frosting into a sandwich ziplock bag. Cut one corner off of the bag.
-When cookies are done, let them sit on the cookie sheet for one minute.
-Transfer to a cooling rack.
-Turn all of them over and pipe frosting onto every other one.
-Then sandwich two of them together.
-They should be a little soft in the middle.

YUM I can't wait to try!
Those look DIVINE. It probably doesn't help that I have the afternoon munchies.
